Intoxicated Man

by Marlon Amponsah   Feb 5, 2006

Wrinkles decorate the face of a gray-headed man
Unsettled plans of succeeding in life
Embedding alcohol his prime possession
Wine his obsession
Affecting his neighbors

Labors of rummaging through waste
To in place liquor in his system
Allowing this precarious nectar to saturate his lips
He omits leather strap from hips
Which gives his spleen room to store liquid stimulants

Thus the term beer belly
A drunkard
Valuable possession leaving his brain punctured
In his intoxication unable to even, recite the alphabet
Unable to walk a straight line

Family made stray by his ethanol
Sensible judgments not followed
The children are now the family heads
An eight-year-old child
Can make better decisions than that of a drunk

An alcoholic thirst quencher
He ventures for more booze
In refusal to put the most valuable first
He uses the remains of his life
Savoring his imaginary possessions trapped in a bottle.
