My Little Brother

by Natalie   Feb 6, 2006

My little brother,
Where have you run to?
My little brother,
Where can I find you?

You need so much guidance,
Building a wall to distance your family,
Leaving so much behind,
Heading toward uncertainty.
It is not easy out there,
life is not always so fair.

I've seen you smile but only for a while,
But when you do, you light up the room with your humour and style.
I've heard your anger,
felt your pain,
Understood being misunderstood,
and going through it, over again.

I held you in my arms when you were born,
Silently watching you develop from a little lost boy into a man.
Still in search for himself,
In search to belong,
In search to be right, and rarely wrong.

Climb on my shoulder, and reach for the stars,
Grab onto your dreams,
You can make it, through life's hurdles and bars.
I know I have hurt you, as much as you have hurt me,
Forgiveness offers peace, as well as set us free.

I walk my life path without you in it,
But if I saw you today,
This is what I would say;

My little brother,
Ive missed you.
My little brother,
I'm proud of you.
My little brother,
I care for you.
My brother...A promise I give is to be there for you.
