Beautiful Girl: Part II

by Poetvoices   Feb 8, 2006

At three o'clock, he left for work,
and they could finally breathe.
They wanted so desperately to get away
to be free to recover and seethe.

At 4:30, a knock on the kitchen window.
The woman recognized the man.
She never expected to see him again,
so what did he have planned?

He looked as though he had a secret
she noticed through her black eyes.
She motioned for him to meet her at the door
even though this may not have been wise.

He said, "Can I speak to the man of the house?"
"You'll have to come back some other time."
The hope faded from her eyes.
"I want to help you!" he suddenly chimed.

"I don't know what you're talking about."
But she honestly did.
She tried to slam the door on him,
but his hand in the way forbid.

"I found a shelter to house you and your girl."
"He's all I have! How can I leave him?"
"Don't do it for me or you.
For your Little girl. Go out on a limb."

The girl pranced in holding a bear.
The one from a few days before.
She still had the bruises on her arms
with new cuts and sores galore.

"Think of how much money!" he'd shouted.
"How much money you costed me!
We can hardly afford to eat right now!
What if we die? Then, will you be happy?"

Now, her sad, puppy eyes saw the man
who saved her for the first time.
She ran up to him like he was an uncle,
and up into his arms she climbed.

She really didn't know who he was,
but she leaned to her mother's ear.
"Mommy! Don't cry because we're hurt."
He's gonna save us. My REAL daddy's here!

"He's not your daddy, but you are right.
He's gonna save our lives.
Now, let's get outta here
before my husband arrives."

The man never found his wife and kid.
They lived happily ever after.
They got away from their shattered lives
eternally safe from such disaster.

How do you like the series?I'm 'bout to come out w/ Part III (maybe!)
