Colorless Lies

by Poetvoices   Feb 9, 2006

You broke that promise
I was never sure you'd made.
I looked on with anger
as you practically betrayed me on parade!

I clenched my teeth
and punched my desk.
Usually, I'd turn to you
in anger and distress.

I guess I have to anyway.
You compromised yourself
to become a little more "popular"--
to gain a little more wealth.

A tear rolls down my face.
I don't know why.
I blast my CD
as I cry.

I'm much too dramatic.
I'm going to bed.
You said it best--
a "place for my head."
