Hopes and Dreams

by Bethan   Feb 12, 2006

If a wish is a heart's desire
And every dream a hope,
Then what is there left
For those who cannot cope,

Those who have no dreams
No wishes ever granted
What is left for them
Those left so disenchanted,

This world in which we live,
Spares not a thought for them,
Those who are lost causes
No imagination to pretend,

For these unfortunate few,
Who make up the majority,
It's not brother can you spare a dime,
For that isn't their priority,

They'd rather have your thoughts,
For them they'd give a penny,
To be able to have hope,
For right now they haven't any,

'Cos hopes, wishes and dreams,
Apparently they are free,
But not for the ones without
Who struggle endlessly,

So next time you have a dream,
Follow it to the end,
For you have a precious gift,
Upon which you can depend,

But remember those who have nothing,
those who live in despair,
for theirs is a suffering,
to which nothing can compare,

Remember you are lucky,
You can build your aspirations,
Unlike the unfortunate many
Who have no expectations.

So, follow your hearts desires,
Make true every wish,
Make your life complete
and cherish all that you accomplish.

Make good all your promises
and have no regrets,
Or you'll find yourself like them
Like those that life forgets.
