By My Side

by brokenpieces38   Feb 13, 2006

I pass so many people by

They don't know that I cry inside

I put on a smile like I'm okay

Though I can't stand to see your face

Not like anyone else, I'm so empty inside

I walk with shame, not an ounce of pride

But you, you can see me cold and betrayed

I saw you praying for me on the last day

I never saw you after that time

I thought about you for quite awhile

You gave me hope the strength to stand

To stand without your helping hand

So now I walk with at least an ounce of pride

I know theres people out there who'll stand by my side

Watch me through my ups and downs

Guide me through my smiles and frowns

So I'll smile a little bit knowing that someone cares

And that I'll be with you in your prayers

Oh, wow. This poem is sooo awesome! When I was reading it, I felt I was staring in a mirror, and seeing myself acting just like that, but now, like at the end of your poem, everything turned out better. This poem really inspired me. You really expressed yourself well. I cant say this enough, GREAT JOB! Wonderful.

    Much love!
