Mother and Daughter

I know you love me mom
but the way you express it
is not by giving me a hug
or even giving me a kiss

It's more of the yelling
the shouting, the screaming
grabbing anything in your view
and then trying to hit me

when i was a little girl
i tried to understand
why you were always yelling
and why you're always mad

At first i thought it was normal
until you first struck my face
then it grew on
when you used more than your fist

Sometimes you were gentle
and bought me a lot of things
but then for some reason
we got home, and you hit me

the hitting doesn't hurt
it's the inside that burns
it's scarred it's broken
and maybe even shattered

I understand your feelings
i tried hard not to say it
the fact that you've lost control
over your heart and emotions

Though i sometimes curse you
and hope that you would die
i don't really mean it
i don't want to say goodbye

i hope that you'd understand
my feelings towards you
mom i really love you
like a daughter should and do
