The Game of Love

by Tess Beautifully Broken   Feb 18, 2006

Hold me in your arms,
That is all I've ever dreamed,
We stand in silence,
We are both afraid it seems.

Your brow furrows in frustration,
My heart drops to the floor,
You abruptly leave,
I can't lie and say there was anything more.

You didn't turn around,
You didn't run to my arms,
You didn't say you had been crushing on me secretly,
You didn't say you had feeling for me that you kept inbound.

A secret love is a hard one to keep,
Looking from afar,
Loving at a distance,
Following you around like a lost and love struck sheep.

We are playing a game,
A game of love that is,
Back and forth,
From court to court,
The ball is in play,
It travels amongst my eyes,
Falling where it may.

One minute the game is tied,
Another I am losing the game,
I cannot figure out who will win,
My feelings I must learn to tame.

I don't know if your love for me is real,
I don't even know if you have love for me at all,
So in this game of love,
I suppose you now have the ball.
