Ressurrection

by Brittany   Feb 21, 2006

I saw you standing there,
looking right at me,
my heart began to race,
it was impossible to breathe.

I was rooted on the spot,
but what could I do?
my blood suddenly seemed hot,
my sanity came unglued.

How long had it been,
since I looked in your eyes,
in our time apart,
I told my heart lies.

But all of these lies,
I'd created my self,
determined not to love you
I kept my heart on a shelf.

Yet here you are at last,
my heart has broken free,
allowing me to love you,
allowing my soul to see.

In the time you've been away,
my world came crashing down,
I was all on my own,
buried halfway underground.

Then you took my hand,
pulling me to my feet,
leaving the hurt behind,
my heart was free to beat.

We once stood at a fork
leading us apart,
I got lost down my road,
you rescued me from the dark.

I'd made a mistake
by turning you away,
when some how I always knew,
that I wanted you to stay.

But now the pain is gone,
you washed it all away,
your the reason why,
my heart still beats today.
