New Birth

by Natalie Cook   Feb 21, 2006

The key to life is in your hands, but right now everything is going wrong
Because for some reason we have yet to find the correct lock
We are the new generation
But I don't think we understand the complications
Of this place of mass destruction that we call the earth
So now is the time for a new birth

For all of those who are black should know the struggles of what our ancestors fought for us to be
The pain, determination, and strength just so we could be free
But are we really free? Should this question even be asked?
Years and years have gone by, but the struggles just seem to last
And people are also forgetting about the Jews in the Holocaust, which was a terrible mess
So many fought, but yet a lot of them still died in the end
And let us not forget about the Native Americans, because they are the ones who truly founded America
But yet the person who seems to get the credit did nothing for us
All of these facts are called history, and it is very sad to say
Because after all those people did for us most things haven't even changed
If you don't believe me just look at the society
It seems like just because someone is different, then that makes him or her ugly
But just for the record everyone is beautiful according to God
So why do people consistently have to try to make others feel small
The discrimination! When will it ever end?
People are losing their lives because of it, and there should be a stop to this wreck
This place that everyone is calling the earth
Certainly is in need of a new birth

Most people in other countries, and even in our own
Are suffering with poverty, no family, and even diseases unknown
But yet we have the nerve to complain about unnecessary things
And try to exaggerate our problems to make them not what they seem
Why must we forget about these innocent lives at stake?
And just worry about the little things to make others worry about our ridiculous pain
The people in this world need to stop trying to consistently complain
There are people that have it way worst than us who are going through so much pain
So quit whining, and act for once
Believe me you do not have to be so selfish and stubborn so much
So are you going to keep complaining so much to make the earth even worst?
Or are you going to go the better route, and finally let the earth have its new birth

The cries and tears that we see everyday on the news
Can be prevented if the world would stop loving us sing the blues
There is no need for the pain, and no need to fight
We can all work though this struggle together if we use all our might
The discrimination can be over, and all of the unnecessary deaths will stop in this new ritual
If we just join hands and sing in the old Negro spiritual
"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty we are free at last!"
The chains are now broken, and all of the pain had passed
But all of this happiness and joy will not come true
If we don't come together very soon
So are you going to let this place of mass destruction keep being hurt?
Or are you going to unite with the world, and let there be a new birth
