Everyone used to tell her,
She was beautiful and had it all,
But didn't look past her looks long enough,
To see she was trapped behind a wall.
She had beauty and grace,
And was intelligent too,
But under all that,
She had more sadness than anyone knew.
Until one day he came into her life,
And wiped all her tears away,
He broke down all her barriers,
And she knew he was here to stay.
He swept her off her feet,
And brought a smile to her pretty face,
He made all her fears go away,
And never suffocated her space.
He showed her he loved her,
Not with gifts like most guys do,
He kissed her and held her,
And whispered, “I Love You.”
These words were all she needed,
For she knew his love was real,
And gave herself to him completely,
And their love was forever sealed.
As time passed their love only grew,
And could never possibly be broken,
Because they had the strongest bond,
Something never forsaken.
But then came that faithful day
When it all must end,
Her 18th birthday it was,
When the heartbreaking news was sent.
The one thing that gave her reason to live,
Was killed that very day,
And she was so distraught
Because there was nothing she could do or say.
He was on his way to her house
Because her present he had to bring,
And in his pocket they had found,
A beautiful diamond engagement ring.
She was so heartbroken,
She couldn't eat or sleep for weeks,
She was drowning in her own tears of pain,
And becoming more fragile and meek.
Little did she know,
Her love would never drift,
Because 9 months later her son was born,
Her most cherished God-sent gift.
Her story lives on within her son,
But so does her regret and sorrow,
Cherish every precious moment you have,
Because there may be no tomorrow.
