Alone But Not Abandoned

You were my best friend.
Every time I was stuck you had a hand to lend.
I was the one you would always defend.
You would help me all the time.
You were always happy and never sour like a lime.

You were never dull.
You got me out of every hole.
You would always keep me warm.
You also kept me away from harm.

You got me out of the rain.
You never let me go insane.
But now you are gone and not here with me.
I hope you're happy and free.

I won't forget that day you saw the light.
When you left it wasn't right.
Now you're gone and you took all my air.
This just isn't fair.

It was too soon for you to say good bye.
I wish you didn't die.
Even since you left me life has been rough.
I can't pretend to be tough.
To spend a whole day with you isn't enough.

I wish I could go back in time and keep you away from death.
I wonder what you were thinking when you took your last breath.
Without you I feel so confused.
You left a scar on me not a bruise.

If only you can live again.
It does matter when.
I want to see you come down from a cloud.
I will try to live the rest of life happy just to make you proud.
