When You Were Born

by Jess   Feb 23, 2006

Before I write this poem I will tell you what is going on. I am a 16 aunt to my 13 niece. This poem is written to her. Her dad is in jail for drugs and her mom moved back in with him for her. But she really hates her dad and loves her mom but doesn't like the way she is.

When you were born
I sworn to protect you
To help you when you needed
And to be always true

All my teachers
Calling me mother goose
Because I held you so tight
So you would never get loose

I waited on you
Each and everyday
At the end of class
So I can show you the way

I never wanted you
To find out the people in the world
But you finally have now
And your life is a swirl

I haven't did my job
To keep you from harm
To not let anybody
Win you over with their fake charm

Now we are in separate schools
And it is too late
Because you are already
Sealing your fate

You are going the wrong way
Trying all these new things
And I don't want to hold you
From spreading your wings

But sweetie
I love you too much
For you to even think
Of committing suicide

Now it becoming worst
You are now doing drugs
But maybe if your mom knew you
You would be filled with hugs

You see your dad
And how his life has fallen down
But you wanted to be different
Because your dad only gave you frowns

I know I am your aunt
And you don't care what I say
But when you were born
I sworn to protect you each and everyday

please please please rate and comment it would mean alot to me and I will return the favor
