She is blind

by death-upon-death   Feb 23, 2006

The music stops,
she stands the at the window,
looking for his face,
he has been gone so long,
but she cannot bare to see the truth.
her man is dead.
but she is blind.
the rain begins to fall,
hitting the ground like a bomb in a war,
just like the war that took him.
she can see him,
feel him,
every where she goes,
he is with her constantly in her mind.
she takes her coat,
and sneaks out side,
just to stand in the rain,
its cold and lonely,
a comfort to her in a way,
maybe she will see him some day.
she looks up at the glistening night sky,
and smiles as the stars form his face,
only she can see.
they watch her dance from the lounge window,
they let her go,
they think they have lost her,
they think she is crazy,
but she has only lost her husband,
no her mind,
but she is blind.
she is blind.

this poems is based on a true story where a woman lost her husband in a war but she still saw him all the time, everyone thought she was crazy so they sent her to a mental hospital where she was guarded by doctors and nurses. weeks later she died alone and her body was found in her room, in her hand was a picture of her husband and a note on the back which read, i will always love you and be with you signed David. she received the picture the day her husband, David, died.
