Believe In Yourself

Many days and nights spin rapidly by
Thoughts of loved ones and family swirl in your mind
You reach for your favorite pen...
And search for the words you just cant find

Mountains and rivers flow with majestic vision
Rainbow spectrum's color your dreams
Yearning to bring that blank canvas to life
To paint your memories on a life-size screen

The pen and mind refuse to meet half way
Your inspiration draining like running ink
Just one stanza to get it started
Eyes wide open, better not blink

All of your energy spent in one mighty try
The pen falls in a heavy thud
You hold it all back, trying not to cry
Your writing career must surely be done

These feelings of writers block all to real
Will you ever get that "magic" back again?
Just relax and you will soon begin to feel
That all you needed was a brand new pen

The words will write themselves through your heart
You won`t believe what stories will take shape
Your fellow poets will critique the very best parts
About your hopes , dreams and faith

Never give in to thoughts of despair
Sometimes your words are just not there
Trust your heart and the words that you felt
But most of all, believe in yourself

I absolutely love the optimism in this. It's beautifully written, with a message that all writer's can relate to.
As crazy as it may sound, I can so relate to the lines about the favorite pen. I only write with papermate brand pens in blue. But there have been a few times that I couldn't find one, so I wrote with another pen. I'm very superstitious. So if I wrote a poem that I liked, then I stick with that pen until the magic has worn off. Then it's back to the blue paper mate pens....lol! I'm crazy I know.
Anyway, thank you for sharing this. It will now be my go-to poem when I'm struck with writer's block or the occasional lack of inspiration.
    Love ya~Holly
