Why should i try?

Rip my heart from my chest
devour it piece by piece
show no shame, show no care
then turn your back and leave

i only wonder why?
were all my efforts in vain?
i tried so hard to hold you up
shelter you from the pain

but why should i try
when you just throw our love away
where was it that i let go
and starting to believe it'd be OK

you've done nothing for me
i gave you my heart, my all
what in return did you give
besides watching as i fall
