Memory Lane

by Phoebe   Mar 2, 2006

I'll talk to you like you're listening,
And pray you can hear my voice calling,
Though I know you wont answer or reply,
Please know that I am waiting.

I'll sit and cry my pain away,
And I'll pretend that you hear,
I'll try to imagine a world with no pain,
But I'll know that it is not real.

I'll listen to you counting the minutes,
Until you have to go, and you leave me,
And I know that you wont cry,
But I know that I will tear myself down again.

I'll lay myself down on the ground,
And ignore the fountains of pain,
I'll watch my life slowly fading,
As I take a last walk through memory lane.

I'll talk to you like you're listening,
And I will cry as if you cannot hear,
I'll call out your name to the heavens,
But I'll always know that you'll be right here.
