Without you i am everything

Your sweet smell and bitter after taste,
should have served me as warning,
with you i was nothing,
but an empty resentful shell,
that was the story of my life,
wherever you went i followed,
but now I'm stronger,
I'm making things go my way,

without you i am everything,
i know who i want to be,
everything looks brighter,
it doesn't look so scary,
i broke my fearful silence,
and inside i found my rage,
it gave me strength i never knew,
now i nurture it,

looking back now,
i cannot believe,
how much i let you hurt me,
your careless ways,
and heartless lies,
will never hurt me again,
ill never waste my tears,
on things that will never change.
