Finally we are here
But I will have one final tear
Though this will not be a tear of pain nor sorrow
But because I have been waiting for this tomorrow.
I have tried to hold on day after day
And one time I almost slipped away
It's hard to live without much food and water
I've seen so many die even like myself, a young daughter
One time I thought I would die...
But an old man looked me right in the eye
And said I can not give up and I have to keep going
So I nodded, knowing
That now I was obliged to finish this quest
And now we here and I can finally rest
We can now start our life on this reservation
But looking around I have come to realization
This land is not like our land
It's not free and clean but is covered in dirt and sand
I see now why we were to come here
So the Americans can have our land and we can't interfere.
None of my family is left alive
So I am looking around for someone to help me survive.
Across my way I see that old man
So I walk over and he takes my hand
I know now he is my new dad
Looking up into his eyes I can see something sad
Almost like I remind him of someone he knew
Someone like his daughter who died on the trail too.
