My Calling

Sitting on my rooftop
Looking up at the midnight sky
wondering where this life of mine
is actually headin'

Thinking I might of missed some kind of sign
just can't figure out
if I'm wasting my time
songwriting

God, I'm wonderin' is this my talent
Am I suppose to be writing
Is it really my calling
whatever the answer is
I'm asking for Your guidance

My mom is telling me
to start thinking
of a more practical way
to spend my life
instead of chasing childish dreams

Yet I can't stop my pencil
from moving
across these sheets of paper
I don't know where it's all coming from

God, I'm wonderin' is this my talent

Some people say
hey see right into my heart
through my writing
and this is when I start to wonder
where is this really going

Then others say
it seems to be a bunch of gibberish
All this paper is just a waste
The words sure they sound pretty
but does it really mean anything
and that's when I start to wonder...
