Still she smiles

by Brooke Mason   Mar 16, 2006

A specter from another world she is
A ghost among the living
Death
So much death around her
And yet, above all of that
Still she smiles

Her voice sings of sorrow and pain
Hatred fills those lonely eyes
Hurt
She has been hurt so much
Even in the darkness, in all the pain
Still she smiles

Her heart is shredded and torn
She feels nothing, nothing at all
Empty
There is an empty void where her heart once was
Among even the blackest of roses
Still she smiles

Never will this woman cry
Her mind does not allow her to
Cold
The air around her is like ice
Even when the harsh winds chill her
Still she smiles

Why does she smile?
She is strong
Even with all the suffering,
all the hate and misery,
Even with no laughter,
no fun
no joy
Still...she smiles.
