Naive

by LuckiestLoser   Mar 17, 2006

So young, so care-free
Her eyes shine with potential
And as she counts herself lucky
She knows a smile is essential
To get her through the day

..What a beautiful dream..
..A hallucination that's welcome..
..The shadow of ones' self..

But look, the lines they deepen
And see how she looks down
She thinks as her morals cheapen
She's a dime a dozen, and they're all around
It's the same every single day

..The awakening from slumber..
..Your eyelids snap open and you realise..
..This is who you are..

This is how they act, she thinks all the time
I came into this place so innocent, naive
Who'd have guessed their traits would now be mine
So young she thought she was, and now she can't believe
How times and her have changed

She's stressed and she's guilty
And frequently the memory is company
Of how her face was brighter
Back in the day, now she has to act..
Like everyone else. She once was a fighter

..Everything you believe can be scracthed away..
..It's nothing more than skin.. And this was all a nightmare
..Of how you never want to be..

So young, so care-free
Her eyes shine with potential
And as she counts herself lucky
She knows a smile is essential
To get her through the day

..This is past, this is no more..
..You're not who you were before..
..Naive and childlike they led you..
..Isn't that the most ironic bit to you?..

And see how she looks down
She's a dime a dozen, and they're all around
She's scared and feeling guilty
How she was is just a memory

..Naive and childlike..
..She's all alone now..
