Taekwondo

by Mickayla   Mar 20, 2006

I just wrote this one today as promised! To be honest, i like it! Ive been doing taekwondo for 3 years! And this was a moment of a life time for me!

I stand up straight,
Brave and Strong,
Hoping this fight,
Will not last long.

I glance behind me,
He nodds his head
And smiles with glee,

He is my coach,
And an awesome one at that,
He is taught me so much,
More then he'll know,
But I still have,
This one last Go,

My knees are weak,
My heart begins to race,
He tells me,
To go at my own Pace.

So I enter the ring,
Which is more of a square,
And I pull my helmet,
Over my hair.

The ref shouts out,
On the third mark go,
All though he speaks korean,
I already know.

I prepare myself,
I stand up strong,
Hoping this fight will not last long.

My heart is racing,
As she comes at me,
Twice my height,
And truly very lean.

Though she scares me,
I have to hide,
All of those emotions,
Inside.

I deliver a kick,
That nearly killed her,
She stepped back,
And attempted to counter.

Though I saw it was coming,
She still got through,
I countered again,
And the whistle blew.

I had not known,
But I had kicked her neck,
She glanced at me,
With so much fury.

I knew I had hurt her,
Felt bad doing so,
But I really wanted,
To win that gold.

The whistle goes again,
And we continue to fight.

Kicks of power and utter fury,
Filled this fight,
Quite in a hurry.

One last time,
The whistle blew,
I could barely see the score,
Yet somehow I knew.

I stood up tall,
Brave and strong,
This fight really,
Didn't last very long.

My coach stared anxiously,
At the score board,
Awaiting,
Taking my helmet to hold,

And finally the ref shouted,
Chong won gold...
