Dragon(Sestina)

by PS   Mar 21, 2006

He flys across the thundering sky
Rain pouring like tears rolling down an innocent child's face.
Dragon watches the earth with Dragon eyes,
Those eyes that only change color with feelings are beautiful,
in every which way.

That Dragon looks this way
At the earth below then again at the sky.
He sees the grays mixing, becoming beautiful
The rain stops and fading are the child's tears.
That not-so-innocent child who looks around with innocent eyes
Knows more than he should with his boyhood face.

Dragon flying watches a young man's face
As he earns his way
Dragon stares passively with gray eyes
A young man looks up into the sky
To see once more the drizzle of tears.
They stop and everything is again beautiful.

A young man stands with a woman so beautiful.
Black curls adorn her pale face.
In love they fall, with those happy tears
But the woman goes far away
As the gray turns to black in the sky.
Dragon watches all with ever-still eyes.

Dragon peers at a man with those colorless eyes
A man plays with a baby oh-so-beautiful.
He looks into the blue-gray sky
Turning his joyful face
And sees light clouds forever blocking the sun from sight's way
Today there will be no tears.

A baby grown big wants not to shed tears.
She looks into a bedridden man's eyes.
Dragon watches in his own way
The scene below; sorrowful and beautiful
A man's pale face
Will forever look to the sky.

Dragons eyes finally tear and turn an emotional blue
His pained face sees the ways of the land
And looks again to the beautiful sky, where he flys.
