Our Generation

by Maegan   Mar 22, 2006

In our generation
you cannot walk out of the door
without wondering if you look okay
or if you need a little more

A little more makeup
a little more gel in your hair
a little more confidence to forget
about the zit that's there

To go through the day
without trying to be perfect
and relieving the stress
by knowing popularity's
not worth it

There are many times
when even the popular
are not great because
they gain friends and admirers
by putting on an act that's fake

Even the most unexpected people
are capable of falling
and are saddened by reality calling
for the truth and not th physical lie
and we all get scared when the time
begins to fly

All good lies have a horrible truth
and when we get confused
we don't know what to do

So our generation turns
to horrible things
like drinking, drugs, unprotected sex
and late-night partying

But there are not decisions
that turn completely bad
because there are plenty of us
who appreciate what we've always had

We thank, we give back
and we respect one another
because we want to keep making memories one right after the other

And if we let all of our bad decisions
weigh down on our shoulders
we cannot act our age
enjoy our life and happily grow older

So confiding in someone
is what we all try to do
and that person secretly
needs to confide in you

This is an example of how our generation works, but since
the world today has changed
we can better decide what its worth
