Dead Men

Dead Men

Bring me my arrows of desire
For now it seems rich to die
In some melodious plot
Is where the dead men lie

I can give not what men call love
My pen has gleaned my teeming brain
Kissing away his tears left others of my own
I listen, motionless, still with pain

And I shall have some peace there
For peace comes dropping slow
Likely there's a chance
If you do as you've been told

But to the even song;
To send us out, at this time O year
When blood is nipped and ways be fal
"Blood" screamed the skull-faced doctors in fear

Who could have thought such darkness lay concealed
A creature might forget to weep
When I have fears that I may cease to be
But in a moonless darkness muffled deep

Shivering in the keen night air
The sins of all the war-lords burn his heart
Of stagnant waters; alter, sword, and pen
And now, about him, in the heavy dark

Authors Note: This was something I had to construct in English class
