Run Away

by Alex   Mar 23, 2006

Her pace begins to quicken.

Somehow, the repeat of her feet

Always calmed her troubled soul.

The constant race of her heart beat.

The scream of her silent thoughts.

The repetitive movement of her feet.

Right. Left.

Right. Left.

The thumping of the soles of her shoes,

As they slap the rough ground.

The sweat dripping down her arms.

Her clenched fists.

Her long hair knotting and blown out of her face.

The tremble of her knees as she presses on.

Right, left.

Right, left.

The subtle slope of the ground.

The cramp forming in her side

As she quickens.

The tears trickling down her cheeks.

Her eyes focussed straight ahead,

On the winding path before her.

Right, left, right.

Right, left, right.

Right, left, right.

Emotions blurring her vision,

The world is seen differently through her eyes.

Determination forces her onwards.

Soon, her pace matches

The rapid pace of her beating heart.

She can't stop running away.
