Free at Last

by Blacksand   Mar 23, 2006

I cannot stand what I've become,
beat down by life until I'm numb.
Nothing to gain, nothing to lose,
life stripped by pain, I've paid my dues.

I expect nothing from my life,
and get just what I expect.
But, I found an answer in the knife,
I have no more need to reflect.

Now my veins are opening,
and my life's flowing out of me.
I am through with all the hoping
I have finally set me free.

To the darkness I am cast,
and the light has faded fast.
But, finally I've escaped my past.
So truly now I am free at last.
