To the Stage

by Moody Blue   Mar 27, 2006

The tacky foundation
and mumbling vibration
of speakers and voices
all running complete
and the thapping and thapping and thapping of feet
as you run
run away
run away run away
\"Get on stage!\"
your feet carry splinters
your head carries heat
as you run from the sun
of the light up ahead
and the prompter is flipping
as the pages are slipping
from your mind as you run
run away run away
from the thapping and thapping and thapping of feet
as you run
run away
run away run away
\"Get on stage!\"
with a push you are on
and it\'s bright like the sun
or the heaven above
and you\'re falling in love
with the rush and the shock
and the pleasure and heat
and the thapping and thapping and thapping of feet
as you don\'t run away
run away run away
and you\'re saying your lines
and he\'s singing to you
and you\'re smiling at him
cause you know what to do
with the smell of the wood
and the tinkling of rain
with the power and glory
and beauty and pain
with the pleasure and heat
and the thapping of feet
and the thapping and thapping and thapping of feet
with the lies that we know
and the lines we forget
and the dying of hair
and the stinging of sweat
and the thapping and thapping and thapping of feet
as you exit stage left
breathing out
breathing in...
and
for
one
moment
you
were
god.
