Flowers in the attic

by herewithme   Mar 29, 2006

The flowers in the attic
have faded in the sun
they used to be so beautiful
now natures work has been undone

they were once in a beloved garden
where the children once played
but were harvested and placed in a vase
one cold winter's day

they sat there day and night
to make the room more attractive
but as the petals wilted,
and as the stems began to rot
the hope of all new life was forgot

they were transported to the attic
like it was embarassing to see them
so there they sat, in the dank, still air
sad and alone. never to blossom again
