My Love

by Ally   Apr 4, 2006

If I could give the world to you,
Then I would do it through and through.
I'd hold your heart with gentle hands.
And lay with you on the soft sand.

I look up to your handsome face,
And rather be no other place.
To be right by your side at night
And looking at the stars so bright.

I'll give each one to you, my love.
If you should be my little dove.
I'd even give my life for you,
Only to prove my love is true

Just give me one, a chance to take,
I'd prove my love is not a fake
But is as real as real can be.
I'd use that chance so you could see.

Please promise me that you won't leave,
As long as you shall not deceive.
You are the one for me for sure.
My heart was sick and you're the cure.

If I had to decide between
My love against the chance to breathe,
I would choose you without a doubt.
My last of breaths, your name I'd shout.

~~This poem was written for a class assignment. We were told to make our own version of the poem "The Passionate Shepard To His Love" or "The Nymph's Reply". I chose to do the Shepard because you're about giving to the other person. It was easier. But this poem follows Christoper Marlowe's poem exactly. Please tell me what you think. Thanks~~

Your poems are always great, this is another great work of art, and remember, no matter what people say, poetry comes from the heart, so as long as your heart is clear, poetry will come as swift as a deer
