The Teenage Nation

by SmileItsNotOkay   Apr 4, 2006

Maybe if I close my eyes
force myself to visualize
I can see through every lie
and look between the lines

maybe if you'd understand
take a look and lend a hand
look this way; this weathered land.
my secret foolproof plan

you took the things that once held dear
you took over, you comandeered
and now I'm left with nothing here
in this world of tears

feeling lousy once again
take the time to comprehend
my heart is pointing to my head
not hearing words unsaid.

I write this in my agony
in perfect blissful misery
and realize this is part of me
what I'm supposed to be

this life is full of complication
grief without notification
happiness, a brief sensation
in this, the teenage nation.
