Love

by David Miskelly   Apr 4, 2006

Love is a double edged sword
It can raise you to the greatest highs
Better than any drug or potion
It can throw you into the depths of despair
Languishing you in sorrow and pain.

Love is indiscriminating
It does not care about colour or creed
It cares not about religion
It cares only for the soul
The essence of a person.

Love is a bond that binds us
It is love that forgives others
When they have done terrible wrongs
It is this love, or need for it,
That makes us reach out and touch our fellow man.

Love is both mans' greatest strength
And his biggest weakness
He will fight to the death for that love
But he will allow himself to be blinded by it
Clouding the true path from view.

Yes love is a double edged sword
But man would gladly fall on that sword
For it is love who makes us who we are,
Love that makes us human
Man cannot live without love.
