Ode to Straws

by PS   Apr 12, 2006

This was for a contest that said to make ordinary things sound beautiful.

ode to straws

a colored spindle
connecting water
to the oriface of life
that which carries liquid
of sweet nectar or burning alcohol
to the nourishment,
sustanence needing body
that striped cylinder
with lines of
roses or oceans blue
that pipe of love that
pulls your hearts desire in you
the straw is the savior
the sustainer
the life giving cylinder

Wow, if I hadn't read the title I wouldn't have known that it was actually a straw. Sounded more like the fountain of youth or something, very nice!
Take care and keep it up~Holly
