Shadow dance

by ShadowDancer   Apr 12, 2006

Deep under the earth
Through a burrowed door
Shadow feet spin weightlessly
Across leaf scattered floors

Ceiling boards of gnarled roots
Fungi of unhealthy sheens
Fairy-like lights twinkle
Pastel pinks and greens

Silhouettes of blue and black
Painted on the wall
Graceful shadow dancers
Together for their ball

Swirls of fine shadow gowns
As partners move in time
To their own silent music
To their soundless beat and rhyme

Hair fans out as they leap
But never do they collide
Passing through each other
To return to their partner's side

Silhouetted formless faces
Devoid of identity
Shadows of the departed
Dance for all eternity

I love this poem. Your detail of the writing you wording and images that came through where perfect. Not to mention I'm a huge fan of dark poetry. :]

This was very good. Outstanding imagery. The flow perfect.

Just my opinion, but the following lines just seemed to Fantasy for the rest of the poem
    "Fairy-like lights twinkle
    Pastel pinks and greens"

The dark showed in the rest of the poem so well that to brighten it up with fairy-like and pastel seemed like you were forcing a rhyme.
Other than that, couldn't find anything wrong with it. But this is just my opinion.
