Im gonna miss you* (a story)

by nicole   Apr 17, 2006

There on a crisp white pillow
the old woman lay her head
a scant trace of a once beautiful lady lay on that hospital bed

her husband sat beside her
a tear rolled down his cheek
his head in his hands he prayed a
prayer while she was asleep

Lord you know I love her
oh all the things we've been through
I will give you anything
just don't take my girl to You

she opened her eyes and looked at him a smile on her face
but in her eyes tears in disguise seemed to leave a trace

he wasn't aware she was awake
he jumped when she started to speak she said

honey you know I love you
but I am going home
in my dream God called to me to tell me it was time to go I begged for
one more minute to tell you I love you one last time oh I'm gonna miss you
baby please don't cry
we shared allot of trials
but most of ours dreams came true
we built a life loving each other
darling I'm gonna miss you
please never forget me?
she said this with a sigh
her eye lids fluttered and closed
he said not yet please don't say good bye
just stay a minute longer
I can't live without you anymore
she with her last breath said
Ill be waiting for you on heavens shore
and then she laid her head down
for the very last time
he said through the tears he cried
take care of her Lord Jesus
take care of her for me
until I come home to heaven and I meet her, with You forever more I'll be.

Wow, this poem is so sad... but also carries hope in the afterlife that they'll be together again. Wonderful Story. By the way thank you for your comment. Maybe i do need some religion in my life. :-)
