A Child of the Land

by Hali   Feb 6, 2004

A child of the land,
barefoot in the sand,
no care in the world,
like a great unknown,
the sun shines upon me,
and I am free.
a child of the land,
searching high and low,
not wanting to find anything just searching,
seeing all that I can see,
all the time just being me,
tasting life for what it's worth.
a child of the land,
starting fresh at the beginning,
putting all the bad behind, traveling to all the ends of the world,
taking in all that I can know,
no worry of where to go,
whatever direction the wind may blow,
you will see me there.
A child of the land,
just a soul that's flying high, knowing that the sun will always rise and set,
along with the moon and the stars, along with me,
a child of the land.
I came, I succeeded, and then I left,
leaving this place behind me.
and all the struggles as well.
A better person I am now,
and still just a child of the land.
