Faraway Summers

by Arti   Apr 25, 2006

The wind blows thru the fields ripe and ready
Ruffling golden crowns worn lovingly
As they all wave and dance in sheer glee
Like an oncoming wave of endless sea

The omens all portend great good and might
As birds of the summer gain colorful flight
Bees and wee’s hum away, delightfully busy
The latter plotting the next daring to be.

Everywhere a riot of color in sight
As evening descends, graceful and light
Mellowing away into the inky dark
Brightening into a morning of melodious larks

There is music, life and sounds of joy
Especially from daring hotbloods and maidens coy
Not one life seems dark, murky, sad or gray
The harsh cold winter seems so far away

Thus each day of the summer fades away
Into a sweet memory, golden and gay
That fills the heart with sheer delight
On reminiscent faraway winter nights.
