A Lifestyle

by Poetvoices   Apr 27, 2006

Tingles through my body.
A sigh of great relief.
Music pumping in my ear canals.
Clarity and purity down deep.

Thought the thoughts still ail me,
I'm in my night of peace.
I sit and breathe in clearly.
Turn off the music; so serene.

The things that happened,
the things that were or weren't said...
Well, those things, for tonight,
are as good as dead.

Like temporary death
that graced Juliet's eager lips,
I'm numb to the world around me,
even to hate's bitter kiss.

And unlike with drugs,
when I come back down,
I don't feel guilty
when people I love are around.

Writing, for me is so much more
than a nerdy little hobby.
Writing, for most, is a lifestyle.
A form of salvation... I'm free.

I absolutely love this. It had immense depth... and those lines made me reread them because they were so well constructed. Amazing job, keep writing!
