The Girl and the Cloud

by Lauren G.   Apr 28, 2006

As the young girl walked down the street
She felt a presence above her and
Raised her head upward to gaze at the heavens
And the cloud said,
“Daughter of the Earth
I have the power to change your mood
Gloomy and dark or airy and cheerful
I have the ability to bring cold drops
Of liquid down upon your dreams
Or to spin myself into a frenzy
And destroy everything you hold dear
To clash with others of my kind
And bring down electrical shocks and destruction upon your city
But I sometimes I choose to observe
To hang over you like hope hangs in your heart
To paint the sky with colorful puffs
When the sun vanishes behind the land
To serenely sit in front of the glowing moon
I do not wish to harm you but rather to
Know what it is to be you
And for you understand me as well
So that we can live together in peace and understanding”
And the girl smiled and continued walking
