Never

She will never see
the sun rise at dawn
she'll never see leaves fall
after summer has gone

she'll never sing
much less say her first words
her beautiful laughter
will never be heard

she'll never be able
to run and feel free
or to get dirty
and scrape up her knees

her gown of white lace
will never be worn
because someone ended her life
before she was born
