Haunting Shadow of the Sea

by Karin   May 1, 2006

Rolling waves at the sea
The beach is very relaxing to me
Looking over at the lighthouse
Everything is as quiet as a mouse
This is where I want to be

Seeing shadows in the night
This is not a calming sight
This isn't the way the beach should be
Looking very frightening to me
Oh how I wish I had a flashlight

And then the lighthouse's light comes on!
Shinning brightly 'til the dawn
No need to fear the dark anymore
Here at the beachs shore
Finally the shadow is gone!

What was that thing I saw?
I'm afraid its picture I cannot draw
Finally the beach is back to normal
No more shadows that are informal
And again, by the beach's beauty, I am in awe

The beach was once a relaxing place
Full of harmony and of grace
And now it's like it once was
Doing just what a beach does
And the memory of the shadow I have erased

But wait, I can tell you that the secret is out!
I now know what that shadow was about
That phantom was a haunting shadow of the sea
And it once really scared me
That shadow was mine beyond any doubt

I can't believe that I was so confused
And that other than me was accused
When all along the shadow was mine
Cast by the moons shine
And now my shadow and I are amused
