Seashell Poem

by Lindsy   May 3, 2006

As I gaze into this delicate treasure,
It reminds me of a summer day.
First it is a message in the clouds,
Waiting there just for me.
And then it is a window into a sandcastle,
Beckoning me to step inside.
And then it is like a rising sun,
Dancing up from the horizon.
And then it is like an interesting sea creature,
Sauntering across the beach.
And then it becomes a mermaid’s teardrop,
Shimmering on her face like a pearl.
And now it is a sharks tooth,
Cutting through skin and bone.
And now it is a thousand mysteries,
Ones I have yet to explore.
And now I am lying upon the beach,
Wondering how something so small
Ended up in a world so big.
