Preaching to the Deaf

by Emily   May 5, 2006

What is the purpose
To create or destroy.
Conform or be conformed.
Control or be the toy.

Shall I be the puppet,
The master or the strings?
Shall I be the fighters,
Killer of all things.

An Idea or imagination?
Both are just the same
There is man and there is weapon
The difference is a name.

An enemy or friend
Can both Love & feel
No one can determine
Which emotions are real.

Die for your principles
Or Die for your protection
Change for your sanity
Or Change for perfection

Your innocent faux preachings
Cannot make people pray
But Preach an idea of the truth
Make worthy of one day

For each day is wasted
By ranting with our hate
You say you'll change them
But like all, procrastinate

The iteration of public
"Things'll get better for sure"
How can things get better,
If no one keeps their word

Having a mind is your power
Speak not what's taught, but true
One individual can change the world
&& That individual can be you.

-----

For all the ranters of the world. For all the followers of the rules. For all who pray for peace, but do not cease to whisper insults to one another. To the imperfect, procrastinating society, who want to change things, but rely on others to do it. For the people in red, in a sea of monochrome. There are a handful of people who WILL change things. There is a world full of people who won't.

Magnificent. This was truely, and brillantly, expressed. To the point where it goes, you did perfect on. The ending excerpt on the poem was really true, and made the poem made a powerful stance. It flowed so well. Probably because the syllables in each line, and the rhyming, which is always hard to match up to such an extent, but you succeeded in. Those were some powerful, and beautiful lines in there. I don't know what else to say, but this is one of the best poems I've read. For one to have so much flow, expression, and perfection in one single poem and also to have a strong meaning behind it is just what we need! Great.
