One More Sip...

by JoyandTears♥   May 6, 2006

And one last sip is all she would take
the promise she made to herself she would break
she promised she wouldn't drink that night
because she wanted to drive away without a fright

it was the party of the year, everyone was there
drinking and partying without a care
she didn't think about the dangers of drinking then going for a drive
others had done it before, she'd seen them survive

so why would it matter if she got in that car
the drive to her house wasn't all that far
and before she went home she would drop off her friend
and make it around that horrible bend

they hopped in and turned the car on
she drove out of the driveway and off the lawn
drove out of site away from it all
she would be fine if in the car she did crawl

she rounded the corner and passed the middle line
she knew everything would be just fine
it was too late, she didn't see
that she was about to hit a giant tree

the sound of the crash pierced her ear
she didn't know it was impossible to drink and then steer
everythings okay, i am alright
I'm going to get through this with all my might

beside her she heared a gasp for breath
she didn't realize it was her friend's last one before death
it was all her fault, her friend was dead
it happened because she didn't use her head

now 2 years later, shes living in shame
her life from then on was never the same
now she knows right from wrong
she only wished she knew it all along

she promised herself she wouldn't drink any more
because she thinks of her friend who with angels will soar
never has she missed someone this much
because every aspect of her life this event did touch
