Single White Rose

by jaki   May 8, 2006

The noises echo through the air
As he walks the empty fields
The scenes come tumbling back
But the truth, his heart still shields.

He remembers the sights
Of the brave soldiers falling
He remembers the sounds
Of the gun shots stalling

He lets a stray tear fall
For all the innocent that had died
He follows the dry cracks on the ground
Trying to wonder where the darkness hides

He says his final goodbye
To the pain he took for granted
Leaving behind his memories of war
And all the lies that still lie planted

And in his mind he watches the truth
The red sea of blood that had flowed
And as he looks behind him
A single whit rose grows
