Labelled with love

by katie!   May 9, 2006

He sits on the corner with a bottle of beer
Drinks it away and it cures all his fears
His palms are all dirty
His daughter is missing
Ever since her mum found her and her boyfriend kissing

He thinks about all the time he was in love
Thinking his wife was a gift from above
Til he found the bottle
To escape from the fighting
When he found out his son he was dying

He became drunkard and left her as mother
She soon left home, fell in love with another
He sat in his home
Drank himself silly
Tired of his life, he beat himself dizzy

A drink to remember his life and the past
The days in the sun, picnics on the grass
The world is a place blessed with heaven above
But the past must be bottled and labelled with love

His daughter she died all alone in a bedroom
Watching her boyfriend hit her to her doom
She lay on the floor
With blood pouring gently
And spoke a few words, \"I love you daddy\"

He went to the police but they didn\'t believe him
Said he was lying coz he had been drinking
He sat in the street
And cried away his loss
He drunk to forget, all the things he had lost

A drink to remember his life and the past
The days in the sun, picnics on the grass
The world is a place blessed with heaven above
But the past must be bottled and labelled with love

He died like an alcoholic alone in a coma
With only himself, and pictures of shona
He met with his daughter
Up there in heaven
It finally felt like, he was getting something

A drink to remember his life and the past
The days in the sun, picnics on the grass
The world is a place blessed with heaven above
But the past must be bottled and labelled with love

*Inspired by a squeeze song called labelled with love, one line of which I used as part of my poem*

I don't really get the "He died like an alcoholic" line. I'd already assumed by this point that he WAS an alcoholic at this stage. No?

Sad what alcohol can do to ppl hey?? Sad what trauma can do to ppl. Love what you have done here. Speaks volumes and incorporates alot of realistic issues. Very nicely done.
