Waters reflection

by heart_of_swords   May 10, 2006

She looks at her reflection,
On the still waters edge,
Her face a perfect mask,
Her fake disguise,
Her mascara ran down her face,
As the tears welled up in her eyes,
She had tried so hard to be strong,
But now everything is starting to go wrong,
She picks up her pen knife lying in the ground,
And presses the sharp blade to her wrist,
She didnt bother stoping the blood,
She wanted to let it go,
just like the pain in her heart,
She knew it wouldnt make it any better,
but she still wanted to try,
She only wanted to let go,
Just to let go of the pain and the fear,
That she had hidden in her heart for so long,
She wrote 1 word on a piece of paper,
Her blood being her ink,
She taped it to a tree,
And jumped in the lake,

Her parents looked at water edge,
Still and calm reflecting their anguish,
Just like when their daughter committed suicide,
The mother held the piece of paper,
Damp with her own tears,
1 word to remember their daughter,
The blood now a copper brown read her last word,
"goodbye"
