No More Fairy Tales

by Brittany   May 12, 2006

Sorrow painting a mask on my face,
Hiding destiny's underlying grace.

What's right or wrong, morals no longer reining,
The fear in my heart constantly gaining.

Once Upon A Time's are now no longer,
Happily Ever After's are constantly wronger.

What happened to my fairy tale, my dreams of a life yet to come?
My dreams being dream, nothing more but whimsy's undone.

Cinderella's shoe didn't fit, Rapunzel's hair was too short.
Good ol' Sleeping Beauty slept on, Snow White never met the dwarves.

The endings are sad, but much more real,
Our heroines given more reason to feel.

So as I come to terms with life, you see,
Fairy Tales are no reality.
