No Sunshine

by SingleWing   May 13, 2006

Standing in the rain
Waiting for the future
To become my past
And sun to shine at last

Without an umbrella
Or a coat to keep me dry
I decide to walk on
It clear enough, I sigh

I see my face below
Mirrored in the puddles
A sad expression stares
From all the wears and tears

My foot rippling my face
And I tread on the road
And splash the asphalt
Returning to my humble abode

I had waited back there
For you to come to me
Come to take me home
To where we'd be alone

I waited too long
I stood there and stared
My heart drowning
I knew then, I was scared

That was so long ago
I've long since not forgotten
Every day I think of you
Hoping you think too

This is why I don't like winter
And why I hate the rain
I stood there too long
Waiting for you to heal the pain

So I'd try and think of spring
Because that's after winter
That's what comes next
But here is where I'm vexed

Because spring never comes
I'll always wait in vain
I'm stuck in the past
No sunshine to heal my pain
